Reskinned PSP emulator

PS5 Emulator is a free-to-use gaming utility created by BordjuaTime. Despite the name, icon, and cover image, this is a reskinned version of an updated PPSSPP emulator, which smoothly runs games originally released for PlayStation Portable (PSP). Since it emulates another mobile, handheld platform, the visuals translate nicely to most mobile device screens. It also maps the complete PSP controller right on your touchscreen, with support for an external controller.

Like most emulators, PS5 Emulator also only offers the base app with no games included. Emulators for other systems include Dolphin Emulator for Nintendo or PPSSPP Gold - PSP emulator.

Play PSP games on the go

The misleading name and app icon aside, PS5 Emulator works just like the real PPSSPP emulator. You open the app and load up ROM files, or game files of PSP games. By default, the game maps the controls right on your touchscreen, which can take up space especially if you include the D-Pad and the shoulder buttons. Fortunately, most devices that support controllers can also be configured with this software.

Also, it offers a couple of features that are not available with the original PlayStation Portable console. It supports Save and Load states, which lets you stop and pick up at any point in the game, down to the very frame. Also, since PPSSPP is largely community-driven, there are also modded versions of games and cheat codes you can load to spice up your gameplay experience.

Aside from downloading ROM files externally, each of these games can reach storage sizes of up to 1.5GB, which can rapidly snowball on your device. Additionally, there are better versions of the PPSSPP with better optimization for mobile. This version, unfortunately, is prone to intermittent bouts of instantly freezing, not to mention that playing certain games can cause device overheating.

Mid-tier PSP emulator

The Android market has had a lot of good games native to its system, but if you’re looking to play some classic handheld games, this PS5 Emulator app might be worth your time. Function-wise, it’s not at all different from most emulators, and it even has the added catch of being labeled as a PS5 emulator when it’s actually not. If you’re a PPSSPP fan, however, know that there are other, better alternatives to this one.

  • Pros

    • Offers controller support
    • Has all the convenient emulator features
  • Cons

    • Prone to intermittent lags and freezes
    • Mislabeled as a PS5 emulator

Our team performs checks each time a new file is uploaded and periodically reviews files to confirm or update their status. This comprehensive process allows us to set a status for any downloadable file as follows:

Clean

It’s extremely likely that this software program is clean.

What does this mean?

We have scanned the file and URLs associated with this software program in more than 50 of the world's leading antivirus services; no possible threat has been detected.

Warning

This software program is potentially malicious or may contain unwanted bundled software.

Why is the software program still available?

Based on our scan system, we have determined that these flags are possibly false positives.

What is a false positive?

It means a benign program is wrongfully flagged as malicious due to an overly broad detection signature or algorithm used in an antivirus program.
